ROUGH-STUFF CAMPING IN WILD MID-WALES
Day 3 - 01.06.10
The tents had been pitched to catch the morning sun. However, during the night a torrential rainstorm had started which continued on in to the morning. At least we were dry, or so I thought, my idea of staying in the tents till it stopped raining had to be abandoned. Nick‘s tent was in a pond of rainwater, the only thing keeping him dry, was the thickness of his Thermorest mattress! Setting off in the pouring rain was pretty miserable but the rain eased off to drizzle. Cycle route 8 is a quiet lane that follows the Wye valley to Builth Wells, it climbs quite high and one section is a rough track. As the rain stopped the ride was nearly enjoyable! After lunch we cut through some farmyards and forded a stream eventually arriving at Garth. From here the quiet lanes of Mid-Wales took us to Llangammarch Wells, it was then a good ride to arrive back at Llanwrtyd Wells, quite exhausted!Click an image to see larger version.
