USA made 'Cammack' touring bike with built-in pannier frame.

This is Ian's first bike to be made with a built-in pannier frame. Ian was after a pannier frame that wouldn't sway when it was fully loaded and one that would also be tough enough to take the punishment given to it on a trans-Sahara cycle ride. Ian came up with the design and it was made for him whilst he was staying in the USA. (details to follow). Ian told me that he managed to break this bike (where the seat stay joins the seat tube, just under the saddle) on one of his trips. It was only the fact that it had a built-in pannier frame system that held the bike together until it could be repaired.

The bike seen here in action, fully loaded, with Carradice 'Overlander' pannier bags in the Sahara desert. Ian helped design these bags and it was he who though up the name 'Overlander'. Ian featured in the Carradice brochures in the 70's and 80's and the name 'Overlander' is still used today by Carradice. The bottom set of photos where taken in 2002 at Ian's home in Devon.
