ORGANY POOL
23/05/10
A scorching Sunday morning saw the brothers cycling out toward Usk where provisions were bought. After viewing a time trial for a while we escaped the fever pitch traffic and headed up the quiet lane through Wolvesnewton. The sun blazed down as the climb up Cobbler's plain was taken. We tasted the champagne air and swooped down the big dipper ride to Trellech Grange. The tree-tunneled track toward the top of the Trellech plateau gave us brief respite from the sun. Organy pool is surely one of the most tranquil places in Gwent, high up above the Wye valley we ate our lunch and rested for a while in the warm sunshine. Our ride then took us downward toward Tintern through a maze of narrow lanes, babbling streams and beautiful pixie light cottages set in a secret fairy tale land! We turned up the valley past the White stones picnic area and into the forest before breaking out onto the magnificent Cleddon Bog. Our route home took us on our usual route through Trellech and back to Usk. From here a baking hot ride home was enjoyed through Prescoed, Coed-y-Paen and the Trehebert road.
