Rough-Stuff in Mid-Wales 2007 - Day Three

The morning was warm and dry, after our breakfast of bacon and onion rolls we setoff down the Teifi valley toward Lampeter. This was a complete change from the days in the mountains ,this lush rolling land is populated with many farms and many sheep. Red Kites flew gracefully high in the sky above us, these birds were once scavengers living around towns in the 1700s but were driven out by people to near extinction in Britain, Wales was their last sanctuary, down to a few breeding pairs, now there are over two thousand and they are also seen rarely in Scotland and England. The climb out of Lampeter was hard cycling with one leg. Nick cycled off in front to get the car as I limped on the 20 miles to Llandovery and the 5 miles up toward the climb over the Sugar Loaf mountain, thankfully for me Nick arrived with the car before the mountain. It was a pity about the last day but the day before in the mountains were more than enough to get over that .On the way home we a stopped to look at the location of the 'Slaughtered Lamb Inn' from the film 'An American Werewolf in London' which is, and always was, a private house.
