WHITECASTLE OR BUST.

31.3.07

The last day of March was here. To take advantage of the lighter evenings we decided on a route to Whitecastle. The plan was to meet Nick in Usk at 18:30 I left home the evening was quite warm so I disregarded my jacket. The ride up the lane to Glascoed to reach the main Usk road was a battle against a head wind that threatened to blow me off my bike. There was not much respite along the main road. I arrived in Usk 10 minutes late Nick had also suffered a similar fate cycling from Newport. The evening was sunny but the wind was cutting us in half. We cycled out on the road toward Llandenny, it was hard going as the wind did not ease at all. Near Cefn Tilla court, the home of Lord Raglan, we decided to cut the route short and cycle back home with the wind on our backs, via our traditional route - Usk, Prescoed, Coed-y-Paen and the Trehebert road.
